First, the videos are just one part of the course content. The great advantage of online courses is that they are\u00a0<em>multimedia<\/em>\u00a0based and\u00a0<i>interactive<\/i>. Since the accompanying text, images and Q&#038;A threads are also part of the course, we want students to be engaged with that content, too. Making the videos available on DVD would separate them from the rest of the course and make for a less effective learning experience.<\/p>\n<p>Second, the video content for the portrait drawing course is over 10 hours long, and simply wouldn&#8217;t fit on a single DVD, or even two. We&#8217;d have to offer more of a\u00a0<em>boxed set<\/em>\u00a0of DVDs that would present production, packaging, storage and shipping challenges that we&#8217;re simply not equipped to handle.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, digital delivery of video content is the <del>future<\/del>\u00a0current standard. Support for legacy formats, including DVD, is waning fast and it won&#8217;t be long before DVDs have gone the way of VHS tapes. We want our online platform to be forward-looking and demand for DVDs will only diminish with time.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--label-5\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-5\">How do I ask questions in an online course?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--icon-5\" tabindex=\"-1\"><i title=\"Expand\">Expand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Each &#8220;lesson&#8221; includes a Question &#038; Answer area at the bottom of the page where questions are addressed. In-depth, individual feedback &#8211; including video critiques &#8211; is available to students who purchase a &#8220;Critique Extension&#8221; as an optional add-on to any course.<\/p>\n<h2>\n\t\tLive Streaming Classes\n\t<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--label-0\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-0\">Do I need any special equipment to enroll in a Live Streaming Class?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--icon-0\" tabindex=\"-1\"><i title=\"Expand\">Expand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>If you&#8217;re reading these words, you likely already have what you need. A relatively up-to-date device and browser and an internet connection are all that&#8217;s strictly required.<\/p>\n<p>We do suggest that you access the\u00a0class via a computer (desktop or laptop) or tablet (iPad or similar Android device). While you can access the classes on a smartphone, the small screen size may make for an awkward experience.<\/p>\n<p>Also, you&#8217;ll need to make sure your internet connection speed is fast enough\u00a0to view the videos. We suggest at least 5 Mbps for our HD stream. If you&#8217;re unsure of what your connection speed is, you can test it <a href=\"http:\/\/speedtest.net\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, if your enrollment includes critiques, you&#8217;ll need a way to photograph your work for submission. A smartphone camera is fine for this purpose, but better cameras are certainly welcome. Specific instructions for photographing your work for submission will be provided to all students.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--label-1\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-1\">When do live streaming classes meet?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--icon-1\" tabindex=\"-1\"><i title=\"Expand\">Expand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Specific times will vary, but class sessions will occur weekly for 2-3 hours of studio demonstration via Zoom. Depending on enrollment level, students can sign up for a weekly critique appointment with the instructor(s) to receive private feedback via video conference.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--label-2\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-2\">I already bought one of your online courses. When you purchase an Online Course, you retain lifetime access to the videos, just as you would if you purchased an instructional video. Our Live Streaming Classes are meant to be more like\u00a0taking a class or wokrshop with us in person &#8211; they&#8217;re different every time and allow for new ways to practice the techniques we teach, but we don&#8217;t provide or allow video recordings of our in-studio classes.
